We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck them. Don’t let them explore you until they’ve explored the secret universes of books. Don’t let them connect with you until they’ve walked between the lines on the pages.

Emotions, in my experience, aren’t covered by single words. I don’t believe in “sadness,” “joy,” or “regret.” Maybe the best proof that the language is patriarchal is that it oversimplifies feeling. I’d like to have at my disposal complicated hybrid emotions, Germanic train-car constructions like, say. “the happiness that attends disaster.” Or: “the disappointment of sleeping with one’s fantasy.” I’d like to show how “intimations of mortality brought on my aging family members” connects with “the hatred of mirrors that begins in middle age.” I’d like to have a word for “the excitement of getting a room with a minibar.” I’ve never had the right words to describe my life, and now that I’ve entered my story, I need them more than ever.

“What horrifies me most is the idea of being useless: well-educated, brilliantly promising, and fading out into an indifferent middle age.” ―Sylvia Plath
A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.

“We’re going to have to come together and realize, the evolution that we’re facing is not the evolution of the human being. That happened 200,000 years ago. We’re already evolved. The evolution that’s in front of us is the evolution of something greater called humanity.
What that means, is you remember when we talked about the human body is 50 trillion cells coming together to make a human unit called the human being? And now we have 7 billion human beings like cells in a body called humanity! So our evolution is all humans recognizing we’re all part of one super organism. When the cells fight each other in your human body, we call that auto immune disease. Well, right now humanity is suffering from auto immune disease because we’re killing each other and not recognizing we’re all one organism.”
